In recent news, Spotify announced that they will advertise full-screen ads to listeners based on who they frequently play and follow. Artists and labels will now have the option to employ alerts thru paid ads.
This feature will target premium and free subscribers with pop up alerts for new releases. Many might not notice this feature can also be turned off, but some might not care. At the moment Spotify is currently testing this feature in the U.S. market and limiting it to certain major and indie labels.
The platform promises that the ads will not be disruptive and they are at a pay per click basis.
