5 Under 5k

This new segment we are launching highlights artists who have great potential, awesome music and are standouts to our staff here at NewH2O.

The qualifiers? That they have great music, make great Christ-centric music and have under 5,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Our goal is that we can highlight artists who you might not be familiar with and give a spotlight to some of the underdogs who might get overlooked.

Our first round of artists are incredibly talented and super dope – we are excited to share!

Joe Ayinde (@joeayinde)

is a stand-out for a lot of reasons. He was recently announced as a Rapzilla Freshman for 2018 and has put out incredible songs with a die-hard consistency and quality. He is one of our favorite artists to blow up in 2018. His unique sound, flow patterns, production and cadences set him apart from many artists we hear today. His most recent project ‘Penny Fore My Thoughts’ was a featured project on Newh2O.com Although he is on the come up, it won’t be long before he shoots past 5k monthly listeners and gets into the ears of a ton of people!

Nate Adamz (@nateadamz)

was a surprise to us – it seems like we hear about him all over different outlets such as Rapzilla and Jam The Hype, so we expected his numbers to be in the 10s or thousands – I think in 2018 we will see that happen without a doubt! His take on music and his approach to telling his story provide a distinct perspective on Christianity. He is one of the youngest artists in CHH right now, but that doesn’t disqualify his powerful testimonies and storytelling but rather validates it with many of his listeners. We are excited to see what he brings to the table in the new year and how he will shape his artistry and path.

Young C (@Youngctho)

fell into our laps after we posted a post on Facebook asking who we should be looking out for in 2018. If it isn’t for growth then what am I doing it for?” The Riverside, CA native poses the question inspiring us all to grow outside of comfort zones. Young C views himself as a musical student, and creates art that is appealing to everyone. His project “Vitamin C” was released in March of 2017 and has a refreshingly relevant gospel vibe. Upon this latest single releases “More Faith,” and “God’s Band,” Young C has arrived and is here to stay.

Andre Balboa (@MrAndreBalboa)

might be the great treasure of CHH who has been slept on for too long – we are in for an awakening in 2018. Since 2015, Andre has put out several projects that have had great features (Dre Murray, Joey Jewish, and more) and incredible production. His project ‘Maturity’ was featured on platforms like Rapzilla and set the stage for his follow-up project ‘Forgotten’ and his most recent project ‘Choir Practice’. We have heard some of his new album, and to say the least, you are in for a treat – great content and a great message packaged with quality art. Andre is a contender and should be on your radar in 2018.

Rashon J (@Rashonjofficial)

was an unexpected find for this first iteration of 5 Under 5k. We all knew artists that made the cut and were on our mind for the list, but Rashon J came from one of our staff members Kyle, almost at the end of the list. After doing some research we saw that Rashon J has been making waves for sometime with artists like Nate Adamz, Bronson TwoSkies and Vic Sage – we were sleep! After checking out his project ‘Summer In December’ we are happy to say that we are wide awake! Don’t sleep on this upcomer, he has some heart up his sleeve.
