Davis Absolute Calls Out CHH Industry on “Wolves”

11

Xist Music’s newest signee Davis Absolute dropped “Wolves (Real Friends Remix)” which features a blistering commentary on the state of CHH today. In explaining the thought process behind the record, Davis had this to say:

“I released my first Christian Rap record at the top of 2013 and since then I’ve been an avid member of the community both spiritually and musically. As I’ve been able to engage with, and interact with, all kinds of artists with all different levels of success, one thing seems consistent; there are wolves in sheep’s clothing in this industry. Rappers and singers alike were in, or are currently in, CHH to simply pimp it, make money, and push their agenda rather than submitting to Christ. As a community, our lack of discipleship and accountability has led to people drifting away from His truth into subtle compromise and, leaders in our culture falling by the wayside.”

Over Kanye West’s “Real Friends” track Davis brings to the front of the conversation the simple question… “Why we ain’t real with each other? … I see wolves in the field.”

Lyrics Below:

“Wolves”
Aint nobody real in this world except Messiah, the God that I serve (echo)
(woo) Seems like everywhere that I go
Everybody got they hands out, the body is divided
One sided defining the signs as the “prodigal”, we all getting money “vamanos”
Head in the clouds, chase the rain to the “pot of Gold”
Hot or cold, audible to the Father, in His hands holds eternity possible
Reverent Apostle, the Doctor, miracle defying when His blood applied to the obstacle
Unbreakable, never shaken the faith of the King unstoppable
And that’s real to me, now what’s real to you
At times what’s real to us, might be real untrue
I find faith in what made the last name Absolute
The homies found it in a money making avenue
Where you can cradle the fence sit on the bench and be luke warm
Shout hallelujah, dab it up, put some fly suits on
Then you all set, bet, if you aint on yet
Put up some bread and you can sit with the ((best of the best}}
A Rap, (God)zilla, like you got {{success cause your blessed}}
Never speak about Messiah and these {{sheep are impressed}}
Listen up, I could do it just like you (right)
Compromise truth and live just like you (right)
Get drunk, smoke blunts, and fuss just like you
But that’s not something I could see God do
In your face they unashamed but claim you changed and you aint brothers
Never been a lame not entertained with the pedigree of a buster
Truth remains keep it like bread and the bread is buttered
I suffered being subtle know I wrap dum candy circles ‘round these suckas
Cut the tape, what a brutally honest picture that I paint and let it suffocate
My brush accustomed, using the mud as ink
Corrupt seduction of using a front and bluffing, while the blood of saints
Is ushered into discussion I smell the second coming, Yet we run astray,
Chasing after after what is disgusting, concussed from the deduction
of what is Holy and covered the Ark of the covenant encompassed
Made public and unencumbered by the Father when He sent His Son away
Where can we run today (AYE)
I ain’t gon’ lie
I almost cry
When I think about the Life that I cost

Why we aint real (yeah)
Why we aint real with each other (yeah)
Why we aint real (yeah)
We was supposed to be brothers (yeah)
Why we aint real (yeah)
Why we aint real with each other (yeah)
I’m just being real (yeah)
I see wolves in the field (whoo)

And that’s real to me, now what’s real to you
At times what’s real to us, might be real untrue
I find faith in what made the last name Absolute
Found the homies aint the homies when they mad at you
But listen I am not a rapper dude, rabid with a ravenous attitude
Cut from a different cloth, my fabric incompatible
Leaders claiming they lead ‘em but I take a jab or two
Picking at the facets of what is factual and how these actors move
I scene ‘em, they movie screening, delete ‘em, and don’t repeat ‘em
I read ‘em, they cover is clean, but looks can be deceiving NOW – even –
Eden was absent of any treason before the fruit was plucked and eaten
Now you can see the reasons I spot the snakes in the grass like weeds, and weed ‘em
Before they become trees now, this is my season and God has shown me what to believe in
If I don’t see the King or the kingdom in what they speaking I don’t believe ‘em
I’ve been pushed, bullied, bloodied and beaten, the evil created by my own people
You see the needle in the stack of hay is often regarded as feeble
But I’ll be that needle if I need to, and prick the soul and the heel
If you try to step on what’s been revealed, Messiah is here!

Why we aint real (yeah)
Why we aint real with each other (yeah)
Why we aint real (yeah)
We was supposed to be brothers (yeah)
Why we aint real (yeah)
Why we aint real with each other (yeah)
I’m just being real (yeah)
I see wolves in the field (whoo)
Why we aint real (yeah)
Why we aint real with each other (yeah)
Why we aint real (yeah)
We was supposed to be brothers (yeah)
And I’m looking for the real ones
Is there anybody real left
Looking for the real ones
Are you real like that?
And I’m looking for the real ones
Is there anybody real left
Looking for the real ones
Are you real like that?

Why we aint real

  1. I believe the division comes from people who are weak in their faith and are using CHH for personal gain or recognition. A lot of these artists used CHH to try to get into the mainstream market.

  2. Interesante….do we need a discipleship cd? Or maybe a CHH summit? If they have not heard the prophets or the apostles or the record of Christ and his words…then maybe not even sending a man from the grave will cause them to hear. Its wild but it is what it is. We need not worry all we need do is hear Christ and what his record from his faithful servants the apostles recorded for us – that have heard his name. Ima say the truth today and tomorrow to a fake, to a hater, and always to my brother.

  3. “As a community, our lack of discipleship and accountability has led to

    That’s it right there.
