Tim Tebow continues to be a role model | Convo

As many of you have now heard by various news outlets, Tim Tebow was “dumped” by former Miss USA Olivia Culpo due to a lack of sex within their relationship. I don’t want this to be a gossip post by any means and none of us can really speculate what really went on between the two of them.

I do want to highlight a different aspect of this “newsworthy” story. Why do news outlets such as Sport Illustrated, E! and many more report on this particular breakup? Why do they care? From their perspective they really don’t understand. Regardless if this is the real reason for the breakup or not, they do not understand that a man was willing to abstain from sex. Now days most men have many partners and the media portrays sex as something casual.

Christians such as Tebow regard sex as something sacred that only a husband and wife share together. You can ask the question, why is Tebow trying to go out with models and celebrities? That I don’t know and until Tebow himself speaks up, I don’t see us coming to a conclusion.

Due to Tebow being a celebrity, they are willing to throw him under the bus at any cost. Many times media has tried to cause harm due to his faith in Jesus. I know that none of us are perfect and we all fall short. However we all must continue to strive towards what Jesus sees us to be.

Any man knows that temptation is always right around the corner. For as many times as I remember obeying God, I remember twice as many times falling victim to sin. Being a Christian doesn’t give us a free pass to sin and we shouldn’t want to either. God does forgive, but He will also correct us.

Nobody said being a Christian is easy and I highly doubt being high profile such as Tebow makes it any easier. I’m glad that mass media is covering this and I pray that someone is impacted by Tim’s choices. I also pray for Tim that he remains strong in his faith as many of us know, the devil is always on the attack.

I want to encourage those who are currently abstaining from sex that you are making the right decision. I know it’s hard and it wears on you but God will continue to give you the strength if you let him. For those who are currently falling into sin, it’s not too late to turn your life around. If you don’t think you can do it, lean on God. If you need further assistance and help, reach out to a pastor or a close friend who will hold you accountable.
